Tender Description
AgriFutures Australia is seeking services to identify and, where required, develop content, tools and resources for an online Community of Practice (CoP) to support farmers, fishers and foresters participating in the AgriFutures Producer Technology Uptake Program to adopt agtech solutions in their businesses.
The CoP will sit on the extensionAUS website and should combine various information formats that provide practical pathways and resources for producers to support technology adoption.
Research has shown that most producers are open and willing to engage with technology and whilst the barriers and solutions to increased agtech adoption are widely known, adoption rates continue to lag. Some of the known barriers to producer adoption include: producers are overwhelmed with choice or options, a lack of local support or skills gaps, unclear value proposition or return on investment and a lack of integration of technology across multiple systems.
AgriFutures refers to a Community of Practice (CoP) as an online platform where people, in this instance producers and producer groups can share their agtech common issues, concerns, topics of interest as well as build a network of likeminded people. In addition to the sharing of concerns and issues relating to agtech, the online platform will provide centralised delivery of practical information, decision-making tools, and resources to support producers to start, build upon and share their technology adoption journey.
The CoP will include a forum component where producers can engage with likeminded producers and industry experts to discuss and share various agtech stories from initial investment, installation, ongoing maintenance, and adoption within their business.
This work forms part of a wider national program, the Producer Technology Uptake Program, which currently includes capacity building workshops as well as a grants program available to farming systems groups to address individual adoption barriers. It is important that the CoP resources are developed with the producer in mind and are both practical and useful in helping drive impactful change in on-farm technology adoption rates. Therefore, applicants with a good understanding of farming, fishing or forestry, or firsthand experience of the challenges and barriers to agtech adoption from a producer’s perspective, will be highly regarded.
