Tender Description
Within the work undertaken for the South Wairarapa Spatial Plan - Residential Growth Options the town of Featherston is identified for growth and future population out to 2050. Featherston is also clearly identified as a growth node location under the recently developed Wellington Regional Growth Framework.
As part of the future planning for Featherston, investigation and master planning work has been identified as being needed. The Masterplan work involves area investigations, urban planning responses, and future form layout for the whole town of Featherston. This will enable the effective provision of long-term urban capacity outcomes for the identified rail transport growth node of Featherston.
The Masterplan will build upon on existing Council and community work undertaken to date and develop with iwi, community, and stakeholder engagement. The Masterplan (framework and implementation plan) for the future development of Featherston needs to be a plan that:
- takes account of the four well beings, local aspirations, including those of tangata whenua and existing community groups
- aligns with the Wellington Regional Growth Framework
- is cognisant of the National Planning Framework, the NZ Urban Design Protocol, National Planning Standards, and intentions of legislative reforms.
The outcome would be the compilation of a Masterplan that has support of local iwi, wider community, and stakeholders, and is endorsed by the Council on behalf of the community.
