Tender Description

⁠⁠⁠The purpose of this research is to better understand the road safety implications that are resulting from transport related gig economy work and to understand what is being done in other jurisdictions to mitigate identified risks. The objectives of the research are:

a. Provide a summary of international and New Zealand research on the subject of road safety outcomes and the gig economy.

b. Identify the socio-technical system factors that relate to the gig economy and road safety outcomes within the New Zealand context.

c. Highlight where additional types of data, other than those traditionally used in road safety, might be utilised to better understand the context (e.g. employment court rulings).

d. Provide cross-sector recommendations of actions that could be taken to mitigate any negative impacts of the gig economy.
