Koorlangka Waabiny Asbestos Remediation

⁠⁠⁠The Principal is seeking to appoint a Contractor to undertake Asbestos removal from Koorlangka Waabiny Park, as informed by Site Environmental Management Plan (SEMP) and Remediation Action Plan (RAP).

The site is a former residential location where two apartment block buildings were located adjacent to the central and southern boundary of the site. The buildings are presumed to have had asbestos containing materials utilised as part of the construction given the age of construction is in the early 1970’s.

The buildings were demolished between 2001 and 2003. It is unknown what methodology was for used for the demolition of the structures and disturbance of the land.

Following the presumption that asbestos was present on the site, the Principal engaged a Restricted licensed asbestos removalist to attend site and undertake an emu pick where the concerns were raised that more substantial contamination may be present.
