Power and Water Corporation (PWC) is seeking to augment/relocate the Gapuwiyak water supply systems. The planned program will comprise hydrogeological investigations (drilling and aquifer pumping tests) to establish potentially suitable sites for the development of additional production bore capacity in proximity to, but remote of the Gapuwiyak Community.
Water supply for Gapuwiyak is currently sourced from a production borefield spread throughout the Community settlement. This borefield targets the Ulunourwi Formation aquifer that underlies the Community. This aquifer is semi-confined and thus has a heightened risk of contamination impacts from surface activities associated with township land uses.
