Soprano Medical Transcription (SMT) or (Meddocs) is an end of life Orion product currently running on an unsupported operating system and software platform. It is difficult to maintain and prone to system performance issues. Canterbury DHB would like to replace SMT whilst continuing to deliver electronic patient document management and workflow functionality. We also need the flexibility to give additional services and departments access to electronic document workflow.
The existing Medical Transcription processes are 'paper heavy', e.g. printing letters for internal recipients. Through this RFP, we aspire to become paper-lite. This will be achieved by introducing the electronic delivery of patient letters or documents (internally).
