Lake Macquarie is the Hunter Region's largest city, accounting for 38% of the Lower Hunter population. With the city's current population fast approaching 205,000 Lake Macquarie is also the third largest regional city in New South Wales by population. Moreover, the city's population is expected to grow by 28,000 by 2036, creating a demand for 13,500 new dwellings and associated infrastructure.
ABOUT THE TENDER:
Council is seeking to secure a Principal Contractor to undertake the construction of the new community facility, Windale Hub.
Lake Macquarie City Council proposes to replace the existing Windale Community Hall, Community Office, and Library, with a new multipurpose facility. The new facility will be a safe, flexible and inclusive space for people to connect, learn, create and collaborate. The building will cater for all generations allowing interactive and social activities to exist alongside spaces for learning, well-being and personal achievement. A balance of private and collaborative study and creative spaces will be provided. It will include a range of exhibition and display opportunities to enhance public programming and the local community's sense of identity.
The works under the contract are to be carried out in accordance with the General Conditions of Contract, design drawings, technical specifications and documents as nominated in the appendices.
The works include but are not limited to;
* Demolition of the existing library and adjacent structures, trees and landscaping and fencing as needed.
* Demolition of the existing carpark and civil works.
* Provision of temporary Wifi throughout construction
* Construction of the new Windale Hub community building and associated items as identified in the documents
* Construction of the new carpark and associated civil and landscaping works
