Tender Description
Kowanyama Aboriginal Shire Council (KASC) is currently seeking Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified and experienced persons or businesses to provide café and/or bakery services to the Community of Kowanyama.
Both the Blue café and the bakery facilities and current equipment and fit outs are available for utilisation either separately or as a package.
Selection Criteria
• Proven ability and experience in establishing and operating a café and/or catering business;
• A clear vision for how the premises and facilities will be utilised and any innovation that candidates believe they can bring to the Blue Café/Bakery and the community;
• Financial ability to operate the café – this can include profit and loss statements for current or previous successful café/catering/bakery businesses;
• How candidates intend to address Regulatory Requirements, Quality, Service and Cleanliness in all aspects of the restaurant operation (including Food, Beverage and Customer Experience);
• How candidates propose to fit out the kitchen with associated equipment and what they envisage Council as owner of the premises will provide;
• How candidates will offer a relevant and appealing menu and range of services for customers;
• How candidates will operate the café considering opening hours, operations and storage;
• How candidates would staff the operation, including employment and training of community members;
• How candidates would market and advertise the café;
• How candidates would manage supply of a quality menu during wet season;
• The financial arrangements that candidates would propose between themselves and Council;
• Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Indigenous people. Experience working and living in remote areas and/or Aboriginal communities would be highly regarded.
