RFI - Services for Processing of Street Sweepings and Beach Waste

⁠⁠⁠Northern Beaches Council generates approximately 1,600 tonnes per annum of street sweepings and beach waste material and is currently investigating the market for the transportation and processing of this material. There is a focus on maximum resource recovery (diversion from landfill) to minimise environmental impact.

The material is generated primarily through Council's commercial and residential street sweeping services, with a smaller portion through the beach raking service.

Service Specification
1. Transportation of waste material from Council's nominated depot - currently 55 Middleton Road, Cromer - to include the supply of suitably sized and designed containers for temporary storage of the material at the depot.
2. Processing of the waste material, with a focus on diversion from landfill, and in accordance with appropriate and valid waste license/s as required by NSW Environment Protection Authority. Composition of the material is approximately 50% organic materials (leaf litter, tree branches), 40-45% sand, mud and sedimentation, 5-10% inorganic waste material including plastic, metal, and non-recyclable waste material.
3. Quantity of material to be processed is typically 1,600 tonnes per annum but is subject to seasonal variation and occasional changes in Council's operational arrangements. Seasonal peaks in quantity of material to be processed occur May-June and November-March.

Responses
Companies are invited to provide a brief response (1 Page) to Council outlining their capability in the transportation and processing of street sweepings and beach waste material to meet Council's objective of maximum resource recovery.

Responses will assist in the development of Council's procurement strategy for the specified services.
