Christmas Lanes (Lighting) Vaughan Place & Peel Street

⁠⁠⁠The City of Adelaide is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) from artists/artist teams for the development of unique lighting artwork displays to be incorporated within two city laneways as part of Christmas Festival 2021. Proposals that deliver a magical experience accompanied with a design that can be replicated in other city laneways sites in the future will be favourable.

Working alongside the City of Adelaide’s Christmas Festival Project team, one artist /artist team will be selected to develop and present 2 lighting concept designs, source and supply creative suspended lighting installation decorations utilising temporary infrastructure such as trusses, to visually enhance Vaughan Place and Peel Street and Pirie Street Breezeway (optional). The assets used will be hired for a temporary period during Christmas Festival 2021 (14th November 2021 – 2nd January 2022). Displays will not be stored or owned by Council.
The successful applicant or team will be multi-disciplinary and identify/nominate a suitable professional creative such as an Object Maker, Designer, and or Artist as part of the team. Artist applicants will be required to nominate suitable fabricators as part of the proposal.
The successful applicant/applicant team will be responsible for fabrication and installation of the artwork and will work in consultation with an engineering specialist design team (City of Adelaide can share a list of relevant local providers).
The installation will need to be ready to install by Sunday 14th November 2021.

The total budget available for the opportunity is $100,000 (GST exclusive). This opportunity is for one or two $50,000 commissions. A proposal can be provided for a single $50,000 commission.
