The Bay of Plenty Regional Council are working with consultants to complete detailed design for the Rangitāiki Spillway upgrade project. The Rangitāiki Spillway needs to be upgraded to improve how water travels down the Rangitāiki Floodway (Reid’s Central Canal) which will reduce the pressure on the stopbanks of the Rangitāiki River during large flood events. The intention of the ROI process is to secure the availability of suitable contractors to undertake construction work within the required timeframes. Once shortlisting has been completed, the selected contractors will be given the opportunity to submit on a Request for Tender (RFT) based on NZS3910:2013 to undertake the requested work. Construction work is planned from January 2022.
