Te Hiku - Te Ahu Loop Running Track & Boardwalk

⁠⁠⁠Contract Brief for potential Tenderers:

The Contract Works are for the construction of a 2.2m wide shared concrete path approximately 820m and a 2.4m wide timber boardwalk approximately 70m long along South Road in Kaitaia as part of the Te Ahu Te Hiku Shared Path Connection works.
This footpath commences on the stop bank at the northern most tip of the Te Ahu community centre and wraps around the main entrance area and continues along the north-eastern side of South Road and connects with the new footpath of the top car park of the Te Hiku sports hub. The routing traverses the road reserve of South Road for the most part but also cuts through the old filled-in Awanui riverbed.

Special features of this contract:
• 3 Separable Portions - SP1: Concrete path, SP2: Precast concrete tiles & SP3: Timber boardwalk,
• No straight sections i.e. path is to be constructed with a meandering alignment
• An 80m portion of concrete footpath to receive a permanent stylised tiles, reminiscent of the previous Awanui River meander.
• Meandering Boardwalk

This tender is for the construction of the Shared Path and the Boardwalk and the successful Tenderer for the Boardwalk will be expected to manage the interface of both sections of work to ensure a smooth transition and finish from each surface.
