Council currently operates approximately 200 fleet assets, each requiring maintenance, compliance checks, fuel, insurance and registration, totalling approximately $1 million per year in operational costs. Council’s annual expenditure on capital renewal of its fleet assets is approximately $1.6 million while the disposal of fleet assets realises around $600,000 per year. Council does not have an appropriate system to record, collate and report on the usage and/or status of its fleet assets. This gap in technology makes it difficult to analyse the costs outlined above to determine whether this is efficient or otherwise.
Introducing the appropriate technology will enable data gathering such as utilisation on the fleet. This means Council can make better business decisions to maintain an efficient and effective fleet.
Council is seeking a Telematics solution for its fleet.
