Tender Description

The New Zealand Antarctic Institute, trading as Antarctica New Zealand, is responsible for maintaining Scott Base, New Zealand's Antarctic research station in the Ross Dependency. The IT servers and associated infrastructure at Scott Base are in need of replacement.

This opportunity in a nutshell
What we need

  • A reliable secure Server and Storage solution, including the core switching element;
  • Replacement and upgrade of Cisco edge switches;
  • Migration of the existing virtual servers onto the new infrastructure.

What we don’t want

  • Any cloud-based solution – Scott Base is linked to the NZ offices by a low bandwidth (currently 10 Mbps down /6 Mbps up) high latency C band satellite datalink. The solution is required to be fully on-premise and capable of standalone operation if the satellite data link fails;
