⁠⁠⁠The Whanganui Port Revitalization Project

Te Puwaha is a project combining the work of four successful Provincial Growth Fund (PGF) applicants being Whanganui District Council, Horizons Regional Council, Q-West Boat Builders and Te Ara Maihi (Port Employment Precinct), in partnership with iwi and Central Government. The project operates under a critical set of common project values that align with the Te Awa Tupua Act 2017 that protects the Whanganui River.

Phase One of this sub-project is the subject of this Particular Specification.

Lower River Infrastructure. Repair and upgrade the moles and other river training structures that control the alignment of the lower Whanganui River. This will protect nearby developments and critical city infrastructure from flooding, and provide marine access from the sea to the port.
