PEERS3: Supply of Electricity - Small, Large Markets incl Public Lighting, Renewable & LGCs

⁠⁠⁠SSROC acting as an agent for the initial 24 participating councils, invites Tenders from appropriately licensed electricity retailers, or consortia of retailers and renewable energy projects, to supply electricity to their large market, public lighting and small market sites with an aggregated volume of approximately 205GWh per annum.

The contract term is proposed to be for Five [5] years or more and up to 31 December 2030, subject to competitive pricing offer received and satisfactory performance by the Tenderer.

Importantly,18 of the 24 Participating Councils have a pre-existing off-take agreement for delivery of around 20% of their electricity load as renewable energy from Moree Solar Farm. This Agreement for the renewable energy portion of the councils’ load is on foot with Origin Energy and currently has a termination date of 31 December 2030.

The Moree supply Agreement has been specifically designed to be ‘novated’ to a new retailer when the supply of the balance of regular grid portion expires on 30 June 2022. This means that the successful tenderer would be expected to enter a substitute offtake agreement with Origin Energy to take over the retailing of renewable energy load at the existing quantity levels as well as supplying the balance as either renewable or regular grid energy for all councils.

Details of the terms of the substitute offtake agreement are available to licensed electricity retailers following receipt of an intent to respond.

Of the remaining 6 Participating Councils that currently have no off-take agreements for supply of renewable energy, 3 have expiry dates of 31 December 2021, 2 expire 30 June 2022, and 1 has an expiry of 31 December 2022.
