Tender Description

⁠⁠⁠Seeking expressions of interest
The Shire of Harvey is seeking expressions of interest from artists interested in creating wall murals for a number of potential projects at various sites throughout the Shire.
The commissioned artworks will reference the site and surrounding area, sit harmoniously within the nominated sites and be appropriate for community interaction.
Selected mural artists will be required to complete the artwork in response to an artist brief and complete within the timeline and allocated budget.

Sites for consideration and design briefs are outlined below.
Leschenault Estuary Eco Museum
Old Coast Road, Australind
Design Brief
The site of the mural is located on the western side of Leschenault Estuary Eco Museum which is located between Old Coast Road and the Leschenault Estuary. The artwork concept should have visual impact on the space and represent themes that complement the area’s character and identity. The artwork should cover the wall facing onto Old Coast Road.


• Dr Peter Topham Memorial Swimming Pool
36 Hinge Road, Harvey
Design Brief
The site of the mural is located along the main street in Harvey on the outside of the Dr Peter Topham Memorial Swimming Pool building. The artwork concept should have visual impact on the space represent themes that complement Harvey’s character and identity.
The artwork should cover the wall facing onto Uduc Road, the main street of Harvey. Consideration should be given to the Harvey River and the Harvey River Diversion Drain which runs alongside the building.


• Ridley Place Foreshore Shed
​Old Coast Road, Australind
Design Brief
The site of the mural is located along the Leschenault Estuary and Old Coast Road in the Ridley Place Foreshore public open space. The Shed is located near the Karragarup Place Space which features an iconic crab structure. Future development on the site will include a café restaurant.
The Shire is conducting a master plan for this site which includes youth focused activations.
The mural will need to wrap around the Shed. The artwork concept should have visual impact on the space and represent themes that complement the area’s character and identity.


• Wokalup Tavern
South Western Highway, Wokalup
Design Brief
The site of the mural is located on the Wokalup Tavern on the South Western Highway facing south.
The mural will function as an entry statement to Wokalup and must also reference the Mornington Train Disaster in a tasteful and contemporary manner.


• The Boundary, Harvey Recreation and Cultural Centre
Design Brief
The site of the mural is located on the southern side of The Boundary which is part of the Harvey Recreation and Cultural Centre which is the sporting and cultural hub for Harvey and the surrounding area.
The artwork concept should have visual impact on the space and represent themes that complement the area’s character and identity.
