Tender Description

⁠⁠⁠The City of Cockburn manages over 1200 hectares of natural areas including wetland, coastal and bushland conservation reserves. The objectives of the City’s bushland maintenance are to improve biodiversity values, increase vegetation condition ratings and to meet community expectations.

To ensure our conservation areas are maintained to the standards expected within the community the City (The Principal) is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced contractor to undertake a range of services within these natural areas.

The scope of works for Bushland Maintenance includes; reserve inspection, chemical and manual weed control (including grass weed control), firebreak maintenance (chemical control only), litter and rubbish removal, minor fence repairs/maintenance, green stock maintenance, mulching, and minor tree pruning.

The successful Contractor(s) shall be required to adhere to dieback procedures and is required to provide all labour, plant and equipment, materials, chemicals, wetting agents etc. necessary to carry out all of the works.

This Contract does not include parkland (turfed areas), drains or roadways, street trees or garden beds.;
This Contract does not include tubestock watering, fence repairs (major) or tree pruning (major).
Verges may be included where it connects with an existing identified natural area managed by the City.

The Contractor shall ensure that vehicles and equipment are capable of accessing off road bushland and wetland areas to undertake required works. Tracks within reserves are generally sealed (limestone or asphalt), and/or unsealed firebreaks (sand).

The works will be required on a monthly or seasonal basis for all services and categories unless otherwise indicated. The majority of works conducted will be on a scheduled basis; however some ad-hoc works may be required.

All personal protective equipment (PPE) and subsequent control measures are required to ensure the area of work is safe to all stakeholders. This includes appropriately securing equipment and materials in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and occupational safety and health regulations.

The proposed Contract shall be in force for a period of three (3) years from the date of award; with Principal instigated options to extend the period for one (1) subsequent year period and up to an additional twelve (12) months after that, to a maximum of five (5) years.

The Principal reserves the right to Multi-award based on selection of Reserves.
