South Waikato District Council (SWDC) is working with the community and developers to undertake a district plan change, which would release more land for residential and industrial developments in Putaruru. Ensuring the ongoing performance of the water supply infrastructure is critical to allow future development to occur.
In September 2017, SWDC commissioned Watershed Engineering Limited (WSE) to develop models of the Water Supply, Wastewater, and Stormwater networks to support growth. The study outlined several recommendations for improvements and upgrade in Putaruru Water Network. In April 2020, SWDC proposed the upgrades to the Glenshea booster pump station, bores and pipe network upgrade based on the WaterShed Report. Calibre Consulting Ltd has been engaged for the Detailed Design of these upgrades.
In accordance with the tender brief, the proposed upgrade consists of the installation of the new pump set with suction & delivery manifolds including valves, fittings and associated electrical upgrades.
The services for the procurement are as follows:
- Safe removal of existing booster pumps and other equipment, delivery to storage on South Waikato Water Services office located at 22 Whakauru Street, Tokoroa
- Removal of existing suction and delivery manifold to dispose
- Provision of a shop drawing indicating detailed layout, fittings and installation details for SWDC approval. The proposed layout schematic (line diagram) has been included in the Technical Specifications
- New 300DN puddle pipe in the pump station wall to accommodate the upsize of Reservoir Street to Alexander Crescent new pipeline connection (Separate Contract)
- Supply and installation of pipework and equipment as per Technical Specification
- Purchase and install the pump set on a baseplate as supplied by Brown Brothers and install as per specification.
- Electrical upgrade of the Main Switch Board and adjacent VSD room based on specifications prepared by Power Solutions Ltd
