Tender Description
The Public Transport Authority operates passenger trains which have Cummins diesel engines providing the traction power of the train. As the engines are used, wear occur in the engines, and the engines require servicing at scheduled intervals. Eventually the engines deteriorate to the stage where they require a complete overhaul. This contract is for a six (6) year contractual term for the overhaul and servicing of Cummins diesel engines as outlined below. The manufacturer’s recommended interval between engine overhauls is 20,000 hours of operation and the successful tenderer will be required to overhaul engines according to the manufacturer’s recommended overhaul procedures and the additional requirements required in this specification. Additionally, the contract includes mid-life servicing as well as call out support services of both the Cummins N14E-R 518 engines fitted to Prospector trains and Cummins KTA-19-R engines fitted to Australind trains.
Scope of Services
- The Public Transport Authority has a requirement for:
- Engine Overhaul of eighteen (18) Cummins N14E-R 518 engines;
- Major Mid-Life servicing of eighteen (18) Cummins N14E-R 518 engines at 7000 hourly intervals;
- Major Mid-Life servicing of five (5) Cummins KTA-19-R engines at 7000 hourly intervals; and
- Call Out Support Services,
for the Cummins engines used by the Public Transport Authority in their diesel railcars used on the regional Prospector and Australind services.
Overhaul, servicing and the call out support service of the Prospector and Australind engines are to be undertaken and managed by the Tenderer with direction from the Rollingstock Engineering Contract Manager or their delegated representative.
