PLEASE NOTE: A mandatory site visit is scheduled for Tuesday, 30 March 2021.

 
The department owns and maintains the John Campbell Miles Drill Core Facility in Mount Isa, which built in 2010 to house the North West Queensland Drill Core Collection and to provide a facility for industry, academic and government geologists to safely access the collection.
 
The department now requires the following work to be undertaken (in brief). Please refer to the Scope document for full details:
 
  • Develop site and building plans and secure Building Certification and submit to Mount Isa City Council 
  • Build a skillion roofed, fully enclosed shed approx. 26m x 14m x 4 m high with a single bay enclosed to be used as a rock cutting room. External walls, colorbond or similar, internal walls lined and insulated villaboard or similar, ceiling tile grid, roof insulation.  Built to meet wind rating for Mount Isa with concrete floor and suitable footings as per detailed scope of works 
  • Supply and install a refrigerant ducted air conditioning system, suitable to cool the space (54kW estimated requirement)   
  • Supply and install solar panel array to achieve net zero power consumption for air con system 
  • Fit out shed with LED lighting and power outlets as per detailed scope of works   
  • Fit out rock processing lab with sediment control equipment as per detailed scope of works 
  • Build a concrete driveway (extension to current hard stand on site) to meet up the southern boundary road, suitable for fully loaded B-Doubles as per site plan 
  • Supply and Install gates at end of proposed driveway on southern boundary fence line as per site plan
