⁠⁠⁠Mid-Coast Council is situated on the Lower North Coast of NSW, sharing boundaries with Port Stephens Council (in the south), Dungog Shire Council (south west), Upper Hunter Council (west), Walcha Shire Council (North West), and Port Macquarie-Hastings Council (in the north). Mid-Coast Council covers an area of more than 10,000 square kilometres, comprising both coastal and forested rural hinterland. It has 3,590 kilometres of road, and has a total coastline of 190 kilometres. Taree is the largest town in the Council area and is 312 kilometres north of Sydney and 173 kilometres north of Newcastle. Other towns in the council area are Forster, Gloucester, Wingham, Tuncurry, Hawks Nest, Tea Gardens, Bulahdelah, Stroud, and Nabiac. Council has works depots at Taree, Gloucester, Tuncurry, Bulahdelah, Stroud, and Tea Gardens.

ABOUT THE TENDER: MidCoast Council is seeking submissions from construction contractors to complete the construction of a New Landfill Cell at Taree Waste Management Centre.
The Works in this Contract comprise the preparation of a New Landfill Cell at Taree Waste Management Centre (located on the Bucketts Way, Tinonee) for waste landfilling operations.
In summary, the works involve:
- the preparation of the quarry adjacent the existing landfill,
- Preparation of stockpile areas including maintaining access, and providing all stormwater, erosion and sediment controls, dust management, etc;
- Trimming and grading cell floor and walls to sub-grade level;
- Completion of a compacted subbase to provide a firm, stable, smooth surface of high bearing strength to install the liner;
- Provide detailed design and construction of leachate management infrastructure in support of proposed Stage 1 Extension.
- Supply and installation of all materials and equipment associated with a leachate collection system in preparation for landfilling operations.
- Installation of the leachate collection system
- Supply and install including all seaming and welding: geotextile layers, geomembranes liners, geosynthetic clay liners (GCL), drainage layers, leachate collection pipes where required, and all Quality Assurance (QA)/Quality Control (QC) testing in accordance with the CQAP;
The tender and contract is run as a quality assured, lump sum contract.
