Verge Waste Collections Review and Investigation of Alternative Service Options
Tender ID: 450202
Tender Details
Tender Description
The City of Melville is committed to a best practice approach towards waste management with the goal of providing a convenient, environmentally responsible and cost efficient service to our residential ratepayers.
The City currently provides one bulk waste and three garden organic collections per financial year utilising our own fleet and staff. The City engages contractors to separately collect the mattresses, E-Waste and whitegoods for recycling with the remaining bulk verge waste being pre-sorted prior to landfilling. The garden organics are taken to the Regional Resource Recovery Centre for mulching.
Due to an increase in the tonnages of the bulk waste and the delays in the collections, a review of the current service is to be undertaken to identify any opportunities for improvement and to ensure a best practice approach is delivered that will assist the City in achieving the recovery and waste reduction targets of the Western Australia's Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Strategy 2030.
