Tender Description
A new round of Restart Mandurah Community Grants is now open. Community groups, sporting clubs and organisations are encouraged to apply for funding towards projects which help to rebuild community connections following the pandemic.
As part of the City of Mandurah’s historic $5million Restart Mandurah program announced last year, community groups can apply for funding up to $5000 for their projects which support local people.
Mayor Rhys Williams said close to 40 community groups received grants during the first round of funding in August last year.
“We had a really diverse range of community groups and organisations receive funding in the first round, with projects that were vital in rebuilding community connections and restarting Mandurah after the COVID-19 pandemic,” Mayor Williams said.
“Our local groups and clubs play a very important role in creating a vibrant and resilient community, and the ability to bounce back after the events of the past 12 months.
“The people that run our local non-profit groups and organisations, many of them volunteers, do an outstanding job to benefit the community and help others. These grants will help to support their work as they continue to make Mandurah better in so many different ways.”
The City is looking to support community groups with projects that;
- Increase volunteering, including capacity and training,
- Build capacity of community organisations and resident associations,
- Support Mandurah’s vulnerable communities,
- Improve access to technology for education and training,
- Celebrate and encourage cultural diversity and social inclusion,
- Create opportunities for localised smaller scale events (within guidelines of government restrictions),
- Build capacity and support leadership opportunities in Youth Development,
- Celebrate Mandurah’s resilience through arts and culture, and
- Build neighbourhood connections.
Under the Restart Mandurah program, the City’s existing community grants scheme was boosted, allowing groups to apply for more funding. Over the years, these grants have supported hundreds of community groups to deliver meaningful projects.
As well as the one-off grants, the City also offers a Partnership Community Grant, which provides up to three years’ funding for organisations providing essential services and programs to the community, particularly where there is a gap in the service.
