NZTA Footpath Connections - Whakamaru, Waitahanui, Tauranga-Taupo

⁠⁠⁠Walking and cycling facilities help make towns more liveable and support tourism. Three sections on the State Highways within the Taupo District have been identified as having safety concerns, substandard walking connectivity or gaps within the existing footpath network which leaves walking and cycling less desirable for all road users.

The three locations identified are;
SH1 behind the Waitahanui bridge
SH1 alongside Tauranga-Taupo bridge
SH30 near Whakamaru dam (two small sections to link to
the existing footpath)
