Tender Description

WDA addresses the problem created by a lack of specific, reliable, practical, location-based, real time alerts to the presence of an invasive pest. WDA reduces WH&S risks, provides savings in labour and vehicle costs associated with unnecessary travelling to on farm, regional and remote locations compared with the time required to visit cameras and manually process images. WDA detects and identifies a target (for example, a wild dog, fox, feral pig or feral cat) present in a remote location and transmits an alert in real?time to a user's phone or message system via 3G, VHF or satellite. The system utilises camera traps, a solar-powered communication node, cloud storage, animal recognition software and algorithms for image processing. WDA is capable of identifying a range of potential targets. Research is continuing and with further development, WDA has the potential for broader application as a platform for supporting significant advances in invasive pest management by landholders, businesses and government agencies.
