Tender Description

⁠⁠⁠North Burnett Regional Council is seeking a suitably qualified organisation with capacity to manage and deliver a Regional Comedy Tour within the North Burnett.

Council has allocated funding under the federal governments Drought Communities Programme to hold a regional comedy tour in early 2020. This has been delayed due to COVID-19, however with drought still as prevalent as ever in our region, we seek to host this event in early 2021.

The North Burnett is a naturally beautiful region located in the Wide Bay Burnett, a couple of hours inland from Bundaberg and just under 4 hours’ drive from Brisbane to our boundary. The region is home to just over 10,000 residents and encompasses the main towns of Biggenden, Eidsvold, Gayndah, Monto, Mt Perry and Mundubbera.

The Events

 3 comedy nights over one weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
 Held between March and April 2021 (before 2021 show season)
 2 comedy acts for each night with the option of local upcoming musicians to also feature
 Held in 3 different locations in the North Burnett (location to be determined in consultation with Council, noting venue suitability for COVID compliance)
 Events are to support local organisations to undertake fundraising by running a bar and catering
 Money is to be spent locally wherever possible
 Discrete information to be made available of local support services for residents who may be struggling and need support
 MC would be required
 Options for lucky door prizes, raffles, etc
 Events may include local courtesy buses

Scope

Council is seeking an organisation to manage and deliver all aspects of the Comedy Tour with the following expectations:

  •  All event management, bookings and payments
  •  Creating all promotional collateral
  •  Must be a COVID safe event
  •  Admission will be FREE to all residents who attend
  •  Local groups and organisations will be given the opportunity to provide catering and bar service at the events

Council will be responsible for

 Providing a budget of $60,000 to cover all expenses involved in the execution of these events including but not limited to –
o Comedian Fees
o Comedian Flights
o Comedian Accommodation
o Comedian Car Hire
o Comedian Meal Allowances
o Sound and Lighting
o Promotion and Advertising
o Ticketing
o Venue hire
o Courtesy buses to connect towns
o Cleaning of venue if required post event
o All incidentals
 Providing guidance on events
 Assisting to promote the event with marketing collateral provided
 Overall review and approval of marketing collateral, bookings, event management plans, etc

Submissions will be assessed on the following:

  •  Previous experience with organising an event 30%
  •  Capacity to deliver an event of this scale in line with milestones 20%
  •  Local content 10%
  •  Price 40%
