Tender Description

Council is seeking tenders for the partial demolition and refurbishment of the grandstand building at the Brewarrina Showground, located in Naveena Street Brewarrina.

The current showground grandstand is over 60 years old and was constructed using predominately steel framework building material that fails to comply with modern building standards, a recent structural engineers report is contained within the document verifying the

structural issues that require addressing.

The scope of works will include the initial removal of all seating and flooring, stairs sheeting to grandstand area, the removal of all subfloor support columns within the lower portion of the front seating area, the removal of external cladding within the front area of grandstand. The

replacement of all removed support metal subfloor piers and installation of new concrete or alternative pier pad system. The construction of a concrete or masonry retaining wall, with a compliant drainage system. The construction of a disability person access ramp to the lower

grandstand seating area.

The construction of a new central stairway, compliant with National Construction Code including seating design. The cleaning of all structural steel framing and priming and two coats of zinc rich or similar paint treatment. Damaged timber wall girts and joists renewed or

replaced. Steel columns where corroded require additional strengthening, reference to structural engineers report. Tiered compressed fibrous cement material needs to be replaced with modern durable material seating. The front area of the grandstand will require to be

suitably landscaped, this will require a plan covering the works.

Included in the scope of works is the checking of old electrical fixtures, building lining material replacement external at front subfloor area only. The refurbished facility would occupy the same approximate footprint and external appearance but be constructed of modern building

materials.

Interested builders must obtain a copy of the tender specification available for download from www.brewarrina.nsw.gov.au and complete the tender proposal along with a plan for undertaking the work, sketch plans for the redesign and allowances and references for similar
