Tender Description
The Rail Corridor Park project consists of upgrading the railway corridor in the Byron Bay town centre. The railway corridor project area is approximately 1.3ha and mainly comprises of grassed area. The site has sections of exclusion fencing and is subject to some public use as evident by the presence of waste including broken bottles and rubbish. The rail corridor features redundant rail infrastructure including tracks, sleepers, steel rail pins, electrical wiring, cables, drainage and hand lever rail switches. The existing railway platform consists of concrete and brick material finishes. The platform features electrical wiring, lighting, drainage and access ramps. The platform connects directly within the redundant railway station and the Rails Hotel to the east that links into the Railway Park. To the west of the site the proposed works will link into the proposed bus interchange and the Byron Bypass.
The upgrade of the park will include demolition and relocation works, earthworks, soft and hard landscaping, park furniture, an elevated timber boardwalk, heritage restoration, lighting and services.
