Tender Description
Selwyn District Council (SDC) invite interested companies to submit a proposal for the design of the buildings within the Reconnect Project at the Pines Resource Recovery Park, near Rolleston.
Structures requiring design services include:
- Reuse shop (500m2)
- Salvage yard (500m2)
- Education Centre - (280m2)
- Micro Enterprise Units (300m2)
The Pines Resource Recovery Park (PRRP) is to receive a significant and innovative upgrade with a new layout and an immersive waste minimisation experience. The Reconnect Project will be an important step change for the facility, by focusing on the upper tiers of the waste hierarchy, by providing opportunities to reduce and reuse, prior to recycling.
SDC wish to obtain proposals from suitable designers who share a passion for sustainability in design, think laterally and present unique ideas and innovations. The project involves taking a necessary service location and transforming it into a destination.
The development is intended be a showcase of sustainable choices at every level, wherever practical and possible, while still balancing financial considerations and operational functionality.
The Reconnect Project vision is: A destination where people reconnect with the environment, reframe their view of discarded materials, and come away with a sense of excitement, passion and knowledge for making meaningful changes and choices in their lives.

The close date for submissions is 4pm Thursday 23 December 2020. Note that submissions will not be opened or assessed, nor any questions asked on submissions received, until 11 January (the earliest) in the New Year.
