Tender Description
The Plains-wanderer is a critically endangered bird for which the appropriate management of habitat on private land is critical for its persistence in the wild.
This tender provides eligible Riverina landholders the opportunity to bid to protect and actively manage habitat for Plains-wanderers on their property.
Bids will be ranked on a best value for money basis. Successful bidders will receive annual, ongoing payments for implementing an agreed management plan under a conservation agreement which is registered on the property title.
Management actions may include grazing for ecological outcomes in high growth periods, and control of weeds and feral animals.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this tender, the part of your land that you wish to have considered as a conservation area needs to:
- be located within the tender area [link to tender area pdf map],
- contain at least 100ha of mapped Plains-wanderer habitat as shown on the Plains-wanderer Conservation Tender map viewer, and
- have native vegetation that is in moderate to good condition (assessed by BCT staff during site visits).
Expressions of interest for this tender will be accepted between the 2nd and 30th of November 2020

Landholders interested in this tender are encouraged to attend an information session. Please note that all face-to-face sessions will be run in accordance with a COVID-19 Safe Plan and a strict limit to numbers will be in place. Where possible we ask you attend the online sessions.
