Sydney Metro invites suitably qualified and experienced suppliers to register their interest for the manufacture of precast concrete platform units for Barangaroo Station.
Sydney Metro is delivering Australia’s biggest public transport program. As a new standalone railway, this 21st century network will revolutionise the way Sydney travels.
The Sydney Metro City & Southwest project includes a new 30km metro line extending metro rail from the end of Sydney Metro Northwest at Chatswood under Sydney Harbour, through new CBD stations and south west to Bankstown. It is due to open in 2024 with the ultimate capacity to run a metro train every two minutes each way through the center of Sydney.

Sydney Metro seeks to procure the supply of precast concrete platform units.
Supply of Precast Concrete Platforms Units
The scope will include the supply of precast concrete platform units manufactured to Sydney Metro detailed design and specification requirements. As a minimum requirement the supplier will be required to:
- Demonstrate at least one previous project it has successfully undertaken in supply of bespoke precast concrete units to the required level of safety, environmental and quality standards for a major infrastructure project (project value of $10 million or greater) in the last three (3) years.
- Identify its manufacture facility within a 400km radius of the Sydney CBD; and
- Provide evidence of ISO 9001 (Quality Management) accreditation or demonstrate their quality systems in use are equivalent.
The transportation of units from the supplier’s facility to Barangaroo Station will be undertaken by the Barangaroo Station contractor.
The Request for Tender (RFT) for the Barangaroo Station – Supply of Precast Concrete Platform Units is targeted for release in October 2020. Sydney Metro envisages the tender period will be two weeks and the agreement will be award in November 2020.
Registrants are requested to complete Appendix A – Registration Form, including confirmation of one relevant past project experience.
Bona-fide suppliers that demonstrate to Sydney Metro’s satisfaction their experience and capabilities will be provided access to the tender documents.
Sydney Metro may permit Registration after the tender release date (including as that date may be extended), however such entities, if successfully registered, will have no entitlement to any additional time to submit a Tender and Sydney Metro will not be under any obligation to extend the Closing Date.
