Overview

Queensland Corrective Services (QCS) currently has 12 public funded facilities and one private facility spaning 19 delivery locations housing collectively up to 9,100 offenders across Queensland.

These centres provide a full standardised menu of selected dishes to meet the daily diet of offenders, and also provides daily meals for approximately 3,688 correctional staff as well as visitors.  The kitchens in each facility are operated by qualified catering staff and are fully functional and equipped.

The Food Services Supervisor (FSS) and/or Manager Food Services (MFS) at each facility oversee the smooth running of the daily operation of the kitchens and are assisted by qualified Trade Instructors that supervise employed offenders.

The safe operation of these kitchens is conducted in accordance with an internal Food Safety Program (FSP) relevant to the receiving and preparation of all food products and the subsequent distribution of meals to offenders, staff and visitors.

The provision of food involves the goods being delivered to individual correctional facilities, to predominantly feed prisoners.  Some facilities also require food to service their visitor cafes, staff canteens, and support the operation of Prison Industries (internal training and rehabilitation programmes).

Suppliers will be provided estimated minimum volumes for pricing.
