Capella Landfill Rehabilitation & Transfer Station Relocation Work

⁠⁠⁠Capella landfill is located at Capella-Clermont highway approximately 2 km outside the Capella township. Capella landfilling activities commenced in 1960 and operated until 2006. Capella transfer station (Capella Resource Recovery Centre) was developed in 1998 and is currently operating.

Capella Resource Recovery Centre lies on lot 151 and Plan TT297. However, historically, it has expanded its landfill encroaching on private property (lot 114 on TT434) and on state road reserve. Capella transfer station lies on state road reserve and on stock route.

Council has engaged CQG consultant to prepare Landfill Rehabilitation Plan Capella Waste Management Facility in 2016. Council has also engaged Proterra Group consultant to develop technical specification report for Capella landfill rehab works and relocation of Capella Resource Recovery Centre.

Thus, Council requires the contractors to conduct rehabilitation works on Capella old landfill and construct a new transfer station on Council owned land (Lot 151 Plan TT297) as per Capella Landfill Rehabilitation Plan and technical report for Capella landfill rehab works and relocation of Capella Resource Recovery Centre.
