Road Reserve Weed Control Program for 2020-2023

⁠⁠⁠Alexandrina Council invites tenders from Tenderers for the provision of Road Reserve Weed Control Program for 2020-2023.

The Alexandrina Council Roadside Vegetation Management Plan 2016-2021 outlines how Council will manage and protect native vegetation on our roadsides whilst ensuring that our road network adequately provides for the safe movement of traffic.

The work comprises the application of herbicide on township roadsides, footpaths, walkways, bikeways & shared paths, cemeteries, roundabouts, roadblocks, nature strips and rural sealed roadsides. The extent of the work shall include chemical, mechanical and manual control of general weeds and pest plants including but not restricted to Caltrop, Scabiosa, Boxthorns, Blackberry, Gazania and grassy weeds etc., whilst producing an aesthetically acceptable result.

The Works Program is subject to four [4] general roadside weed spray rounds as directed annually with additional requirements as needed in accordance with the Alexandrina Council business requirements and/or budget constraints.

Councils weed management practices have been developed for an integrated approach to weed control across the Council district road reserves. Council has taken into account previous management practices, developed and structured the weed control activities while endeavouring to protect public infrastructure and the environment.

The implementation of the Works Program requires external contract plant and labour.

Alexandrina Council has planned its chemical weed control program (Works Program) to assist with the management and control of invasive weeds along road reserves throughout the council district.
