Tender Description

⁠⁠⁠Alexandrina Council invites tenders from Tenderers for the provision of Strathalbyn Community Swimming Pool Maintenance 2020 (the Services). The Council will enter into a Contract for Services with the successful Tenderer.

Strathalbyn Community Swimming Pool is located in the heart of Strathalbyn and is the only 50 metre outdoor swimming pool on the Fleurieu Peninsula.

The Centre is located on Dawson Street and Colman Terrace, directly opposite the Strathalbyn Library, set in picturesque gardens overlooking the River Angas.

The centre complex comprises of;

  • main pool comprises of a six lane lap pool 50m x 13m, 1.23m to 1.8m deep with partial shad structure
  • children’s pool 12.5m x 7.8m, 0m to 0.450m deep with shad structure
  • change rooms, showers and toilets
  • Café

Circulation pumps draw soiled water from filters and discharge treated water back to the pools via heating and chemical dosing systems. Treated water is distributed to the two pools via floor and wall inlets.

Gutters on the sides of the main pool and skimmer in the children’s pool collect water and return it to the balance tank. The balance tank acts as a level control by retaining displacement and surge volumes and acting as a reserve for backwashing of the filters.

In 2009 the centre complex took an extensive redevelopment and upgrades, since then no significant works or maintenance has been completed.

The proposed works include the provision of all necessary labor, materials, tools, plant and equipment for the construction and maintenance activities for the;

  • pressure cleaning of main pool
  • renewal of expansion joints;
  • limited replacement of damaged and cracked pool tiles;
  • grouting of main pool tiles;
  • replacement of wet edge grating;
  • replacement of damaged tactile indicators at ramps and stairs for visually impaired patrons;
  • floor tilling of the female and male toilets and showers;
  • pressure cleaning underside of main pool shade roof louvre system; and, minor associated works (cleaning of stainless steel posts and rails, checking of balance tank and valves, etc.
  • In accordance with the Building Codes of Australia, Australian Standards and Codes of Practice and the project brief supplied in the request for tender.

This will be an exclusive contract to deliver the services.

The term of the contract will be Lump Sum.
