In 2019 the state engaged former Chief Executive of the Australia Council Tony Grybowski – in partnership with strategic consultant Mr Graeme Gherashe and a team of experts – to undertake a comprehensive review of the South Australian arts, cultural and creative sector. The product of that work is the Arts and Culture Plan South Australia 2019-2024.
A key recommendation of the plan (recommendation 1.5) is for the state to fund a business case to assess the viability of a concert hall to serve the local music industry, as a home for the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and Adelaide Youth Orchestras, and as a hub for music education.
To better understand the need for a new venue, objectives and outcomes being targeted, key stakeholder considerations and high-level options – the South Australian Government is commissioning a preliminary scoping work.
