Tender ID: 423473
Tender Details
Tender Description
Mareeba Shire Council constructed the Jum Rum & Jungle Walks walking trail in Circa 2000. The trails are adjacent to the Kuranda township and provides tourists and locals with an opportunity to experience the relaxed surrounds of the rainforest at their leisure.
While the trails have been maintained on a regular basis over the past twenty years the elements have taken a toll and in accordance with Councils asset management plan it is scheduled for a major revitalisation.
Councils intent is to refurbish the asphalt pathway, steps and other built structures situated along the length of the trails. Due to the nature of the natural environment in which the trails are located the successful contractor will be required to use suitably approved low impact methodologies in order to achieve the works. The location of the trail within World Heritage rainforest and National Park necessitates that all aspects of the upgrade works, including machinery movement, is controlled and takes place on the existing footprint.
A mandatory trail walk through has been scheduled for all potential tenderers to attend. The trail alignment, width and configuration provide, inherent elements that restrict or limit access in parts.
Individual tenderers will have to assess the alignment configuration in order to formulate methodologies for the delivery of the prescribed works. The long-section drawings that complement the technical specification details the lengths and locations of the various pathway components.
Council are accepting tender responses that provide methodologies and material suggestions for the pathway refurbishment, to achieve the refurbishment to a suitable standard. Submissions will be assessed with consideration to methodologies that provide the best outcomes for project delivery.
The walking trails consist primarily of asphalt pathway edged with recycled plastic boards with sections of boardwalk, concrete steps and timber bridge crossings.
A works permit will be provided from QPWS prior to commencement of works as the trail traverses World Heritage rainforest and National Park.
