Taupo has an increasing international reputation for distinctive offerings to visitors and is nationally recognised as a tourism hub. Prior to the COVID-19, Taupo had enjoyed significant growth in visitor numbers and tourism activity. While the tourism sector may now enter a period of rebuilding, Taupo District Council (TDC) is optimistic that local tourism will gradually increase in the short term and be supported by international tourism over time.

TDC are looking for engineering consulting and design services across all the necessary engineering disciplines for a project of this nature from a suitably qualified, resourced and experienced engineering practice to support the airport terminal and apron design. The scope of works does not include the terminal carpark or the terminal tenants fitout (e.g. airline counter, car rentals, food and beverage etc) .
