Taupo has an increasing international reputation for distinctive offerings to visitors and is nationally recognised as a tourism hub. Prior to the COVID-19, Taupo had enjoyed significant growth in visitor numbers and tourism activity. While the tourism sector may now enter a period of rebuilding, Taupo District Council (TDC) is optimistic that local tourism will gradually increase in the short term and be supported by international tourism over time.

There is a view that regardless of the current COVID-19 situation, there is still a requirement to upgrade Taupo Airport. TDC, with the support of Central Government propose an airport redevelopment project that is cost effective and fit for purpose (even in the uncertain short term).

This RFP is for quantity surveying services only and shall include the following disciplines:
1. Cost planning, quantity surveying, and financial reporting
2. Supporting the procurement and pricing of the Main Contractor
3. Value engineering
4. Processing and analysing variations and design changes
5. Supporting the approvals process
6. Dispute resolution (in respect of costs / claims)
7. Contract Administration with experience using NZS 3910
