EOI - Playground equipment

⁠⁠⁠This Expression of Interest is to gauge the community’s interest in the transfer of ownership for select equipment ex. Wynyard Rotary Park. If applicant/s are successful, the ownership of the equipment (including all maintenance requirements) shall be transferred from the Council to a private party.

A new playground will be constructed at Rotary Park, East Wynyard to replace the existing equipment. The new playground is larger, more accessible and will cater to a more diverse age group of 2-12-year old’s. The existing playground was scheduled for replacement for the following reasons:

• Typically, play equipment is expected to last approximately 15 years until it is considered too old to remain safe for children. Whilst some of the equipment ex. Rotary Park has lasted much longer than this, the equipment is now showing signs of general wear and tear that is beyond what is considered an acceptable risk for community use.
• Council has an obligation to comply with the Australian Standards for playgrounds, which are in place to ensure the equipment remains safe. The equipment ex. Rotary Park does not comply with current-day standards.
