Pearson Street Pedestrian Mall Upgrade

⁠⁠⁠ABOUT THE CITY OF LAKE MACQUARIE:
Lake Macquarie is one of the fastest growing cities in the Hunter, and one of the largest cities in New South Wales. Lake Macquarie's population is fast approaching 200,000 and is the Hunters largest city, accounting for 37% of the Lower Hunter population. Lake Macquarie is the fourth most populous city in NSW, and the eighth most populous city in Australia and the population is expected to grow by 60,000 to 70,000 people over the next 25 years, which will create a demand for 36,500 new dwellings.

ABOUT THE TENDER: Lake Macquarie City Council is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced civil contractor to undertake the upgrade of Pearson Street Pedestrian Mall, Charlestown. The project will include demolition of existing items, new pavements, landscaping, drainage, furniture, raised pavement treatment at the Ridley Street intersection, and the inclusion of 'smart city' technology as part of the Charlestown Innovation Precinct (ChIP). This project will activate the mall, enhance safety, accessibility, and incorporate sustainable environmental elements. The project will deliver a fun and interactive space that supports public art and smart city technologies.
