Tender ID: 419072
Tender Details
Tender Description
Derwent Valley Council provides and maintains an extensive network of civil infrastructure over an area of 4,111km2. Situated west of Hobart, the primary service centre of the Municipality is New Norfolk.
Derwent Valley Council has trialled the use of High St between Burnett and Charles Streets as a temporary mall on Saturdays between 6am and 3pm. It is currently used as a marketplace and has attracted a wide variety of stallholders. That has been in operation for almost two (2) years and has been highly successful in attracting visitors, activating the commercial areas and providing a source of fresh produce and artisan goods for the local community. Given the success of this use, Council now wishes to explore other potential uses within the space at any time during the week to deliver 'economic and social benefits' to the community.
Council is open to passive uses such as temporary gallery space or active uses including performance space for live music or theatre, open air noodle markets etc. Council does not wish to limit potential options by day of the week or hours of use. It is also open to the idea of the space being concurrently used for different purposes providing any potential conflicts can be managed.
Council is seeking Expressions of Interest for the use of High St between Burnett and Charles Streets as a temporary mall.
