Request for Proposal: Identification and management of a fungal disease complex in melons (VM19003)
Hort Innovation is a not-for-profit, grower-owned Research and Development Corporation (RDC) for Australia’s $13.2 billion horticulture industry. Hort Innovation invests around $110 million in research and development (R&D) and marketing programs annually to provide benefit to industry and the wider community.
Hort Innovation is seeking a suitably qualified, experienced and capable delivery partner for the project: Identification and management of a fungal disease complex in melons (VM19003).
The objective of the project is to develop knowledge and tools to support effective management and containment of the disease complex that includes (but not necessarily limited to) gummy stem blight (GSB), charcoal rot, fusarium wilt Phomopsis spp. To do this, the project will:
• Synthesise current knowledge and identify pressing research gaps for fungal disease complexes in melons
• Identify and understand the interaction of the causal pathogens and the inoculum sources for the fungal disease complex
• Develop and extend tools for integrated disease management of the pathogens.
