Auckland Council invites expressions of interest from community groups, to lease and occupy all or part of the land and buildings at Devonport Domain 28 Vauxhall Road Devonport.
The land and buildings comprise the facilities formerly occupied by the Devonport Bowling Club. The land area is approximately 4,200m2 in area comprising two bowling greens, buildings and surrounding areas.
There are 5 buildings on the site in various state of repair. Some of these buildings may need to be demolished and removed from the site.
It is anticipated that successful applicants will need to undertake works to the site and buildings to make them fit for purpose for the proposed activity.
Applicants will need to demonstrate that they have both the financial resources and the skills required to upgrade the facilities and buildings to make them safe for occupation and use.
A timetable for completing the remedial or any other works is required as part of the application.
Groups applying should inspect the buildings prior to making an expression of interest to satisfy themselves of the current condition of the buildings.
The Devonport Reserve Management Plan describes activities that can occur on the Domain. Proposals not contemplated by the plan, may be subject to public notification if the proposed activity is outside the plan parameters.
Groups applying should indicate if they wish to occupy all or part of the site and/or buildings.
Any group or organisation applying must:
- demonstrate a willingness to share the facilities with others and illustrate in its application other groups or organisations it feels it could partner with or share use of the facility. This should describe how this will occur for both the land and the built assets.
- be an incorporated society or a charitable trust and fit with Councils Community Occupancy Guidelines 2012.
- identify and describe positive community outcomes that will occur as a result of the occupation and use of the land and buildings.
Auckland Council reserves the right to seek proposals and applications from other parties in addition to those who respond to this invitation, and to accept or reject any application.
The buildings and site will be open for viewing on Thursday, 2 April 2020, between 10:30am to 12:00pm and 4:00pm to 6:00pm.
