Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA) seeks full applications from suitably skilled applicants to coordinate the review of materials, the format of workshop delivery, deliverer training and national coordination and delivery of Bred Well Fed Well for sheep and beef producers.
Bred Well Fed Well (BWFW) is a one day workshop that has been successfully delivered to the sheep industry for 10 years, and has recently been piloted for southern and northern beef. The one day workshop highlights the key production benefits of genetics and feed management for improved reproduction. It focuses on the importance of combining these strategies to enable optimal improvement in performance and therefore farm profit.
BWFW has developed a well-known brand and is attractive as a first introduction to genetics and nutritional management of the breeding herd or flock. Because of the success, demand and importance of these workshops, continuation of their delivery is a priority. However, there is a desire to update content with new research, tailor content to species and regions, train new deliverers to expand program reach and coordinate national delivery.
The existing BWFW program introduces and generates interest in the key concepts and is designed to act as a feeder activity to longer term learning programs. Currently, there are limited opportunities for further supported learning after completing BWFW and therefore developing longer-term learning programs or pathways for learning, will be a component of this tender. These longer term programs will act to foster the interest and knowledge from BWFW to generate on farm practice change.
