Tender Description
This Tender is invited by the Issuer.
The National Radioactive Waste Management Program is a major program to establish national radioactive waste management capability in Australia, supporting nuclear medicine and that one in two Australians need in their lifetime, and other nuclear research in the national interest. The Facility will be the first of its kind in Australia and the backbone of a new industry for a regional community.
The Taskforce responsible for the program is looking for a highly motivated individual to lead its Communications and Community Engagement Team, which is responsible for public affairs functions, including media and event management, production and distribution of information material, and direct engagement with regional communities in South Australia.
The program is high profile and involves working with a diverse range of policy and technical specialists within the department and across partner agencies, Ministers’ Offices and other public and private sector stakeholders.
You will operate in a complex, dynamic and high performing environment, with a strong collaborative culture that values diversity. Your work will make a real difference to the lives of local community members and Australians more broadly.
Your key duties will be to lead a small team to:
• engage directly with relevant local communities in South Australia, to inform them about the Facility, understand their views and seek solutions that maximise the outcomes for all communities involved in the site selection process.
• work closely with the Indigenous Engagement, Policy and Technical teams to inform their programs and facilitate their engagement with communities.
• manage key service providers and collaborate with other areas of the department, including the department’s core Communications Branch
• oversee media management, and the production and dissemination of information to support the program, including print, web and social media
• provide briefing on a range of issues, in support of quality engagements by Ministers and Senior Executives, and
• manage a geographically diverse team of APS staff, contractors and consultants.
