Tender Description
Tweed Shire will revitalise Jack Chard Park (area 3,000m2) located in Tweed Heads to include kids fitness and play equipment (the equipment must conform to all relevant Australian Standards related to playgrounds (Playground Equipment AS4685:2014))and the following supporting amenities: landscaping, seating, sheltered picnic table, a drinking fountain, linking pathways and park signage. Our aim is to encourage a playful way of exercise and socialising with a focus on fun, challenge and creativity.
Jack Chard Park is located amongst medium to high density housing, where residents have no backyards. The park will be more functional, safe and enjoyable to play, sit, relax and connect with the local community. The new park will improve local amenity and liveability. Children and families will be able to socialise together and participate in physical activity to help build a healthy and liveable community. An inclusive play space will enable everyone to play. The park is highly used by the adjacent St Joseph’s Primary School during school hours for free play and active recreation activities.
Throughout a school day, classes are allocated times to visit the park and playspace. The playspace should be designed to cater for up to 30 children (one class) at a time) where children move through they space from start to finish. As a priority, the
playspace will be a community asset, and is therefore free and accessible to the whole community.
