Regional Community Mental Health Step Up / Step Down Services

The MHC seeks to establish a contract with a suitably skilled and experienced organisation(s), to deliver the non-clinical psychosocial support services with people accessing three, regional step up/step down services and undertake the day to day operational management of the facilities. These services will be located in the following Western Australia regional centres

•             Geraldton

•             Kalgoorlie, and

•             Karratha.

Organisations will have the option to apply for one or more regions through the Request process.

The clinical support component for these services will be provided by the relevant WA Country Health Service (WACHS) in the respective region.

The combination of psychosocial and in reach clinical support services are provided within a residential style setting and are directed at delivering:

Step-up services that provides additional support for a person to manage a deterioration in their mental health, but where an admission to an inpatient facility is not warranted; and

Step-down services that provides a person, who no longer requires acute inpatient care, additional supports that will assist them to re-establish themselves in the community.
