Gravelly Beach Rd over Stony Brook - Repair Work to Bridge Approaches

⁠⁠⁠Council is seeking quotations for repair work on the approaches to the above bridge as per the details following.

Scope & Detail of Works:

1) Prior to possession of site the contractor shall obtain all service locations and provide a traffic management plan and work method statement for Council approval. Note special conditions for traffic flow.
2) Remove asphalt road surface on southern approach as per plan and remove failed kerbing and drainage pit on east side plus short section of kerb on west side as per plan. It will also be necessary to remove the existing guard rail behind these sections of removed kerb in order to replace the kerb.
At this stage work shall temporarily stop to allow close inspection of the approach slab to confirm type of failure and preferred repair method.
3) Saw cut approach slab to separate it from the curtain wall and remove slab. In order to maintain traffic flow it will be necessary to remove the slab in two halves.
4) Existing fill under the approach to be potholed and proved to ensure no deeper voids exist. Re-compaction will be required if voids are found.
5) New cement stabilised (2% cement) gravel fill to be placed and compacted to achieve good approach grade and surface.
6) New kerb and channel to be constructed to correct grade on both sides and drainage pit reconstructed. The guard rail to be replaced behind the new kerb including replacement of any components damaged.
7) Remove asphalt road surface as per plan on northern approach.
8) Resurface both approaches with 35mm hotmix asphalt to match existing road and bridge surfaces.
